Can Melamine Tableware Be Scalded With Boiling Water?

Oct 25, 2021

Melamine tableware is a tableware made of resin. Its appearance is similar to porcelain. It is harder than porcelain, not fragile, bright in color and high in finish. It is very popular among children and adults. China has special standard requirements for the production process of melamine tableware, which stipulates that (ie melamine formaldehyde resin) should be used as the base material and cellulose as the base material. Because it is a three-dimensional network structure, it is a thermoset material. It is stable in boiling water and can be used even at a high temperature of 150. It has self-extinguishing, arc resistance and good mechanical properties. The imitation porcelain tableware produced in accordance with the nationally stipulated process standards has good high temperature resistance, humidity resistance, solvent resistance and alkali resistance.

However, there are many inferior tableware based on melamine formaldehyde resin on the market. Urea-formaldehyde resin is a solution formed by urea and formaldehyde under alkaline or hydrolytic conditions, and then releases formaldehyde gas. The more water, the stronger the acidity, the higher the temperature, the more serious the degree of hydrolysis, and the more formaldehyde gas released, so tableware made of urea-formaldehyde resin is harmful to the human body.

The normal use temperature of melamine tableware is -30-120 degrees, and it should be heated evenly during use and sterilization, and the steam sterilization time should not exceed 5 minutes.

1. It is strictly forbidden to bake directly on the fire, avoid using microwave ovens and ovens;

2. Be careful to use chemically corrosive detergents such as 84 disinfectant, too high concentration will corrode the surface of the tableware and affect the service life of the tableware;

3. Do not rub with hard objects such as steel wire balls to prevent the surface from being scratched and stained. It is best to wipe it with a dishwasher and soft gauze.

Accept qualified melamine tableware. According to the national standard QB1999-94 for melamine plastic tableware, there is an inspection requirement for "heat and moisture resistance" melamine meals, which is to put the melamine tableware in boiling water for 30 minutes, then take it out and keep it at room temperature for 1 hour. Click Here the method is repeated 3 times, and then compared and observed with the unanalyzed sample. If the melamine tableware you buy has a pungent smell when it is scalded in boiling water, it means that the raw materials of the tableware do not meet the national regulations, please do not use it.
